I took this photograph in April 2020, during the time I was in self-isolation due to the coronavirus. I was in Istanbul, while the model and the designer that I would normally be working together in the same space physically, were in London. For this photo shoot that I made for Dilara Fındıkoğlu’s collection titled Guarantee of Sanity, we used our model’s garden as our set.
Not to be side by side with the model at a time when the idea of contact has gained such meaning, and trying to feel the space and the clothes from a distance was not easy. But I believe that this shoot will always have a special place in my journey of photography. The pleasure of being able to reflect the world of a designer I love through my own eyes is always huge, but it is especially so, when this means we are witnessing history together…
