This period of quarantine has provided a pause to our crazy scheduled lives. After living in anticipation of what comes next, this pause has made me question the reasons for the things I have done and was doing. I found this photograph inside my archives, when I delved into them to start working on my website that I had not found the time to work on before. The photograph made me ask the question, “Why do I take photographs?” once again. With what instinct did I want to freeze this moment and to own it in a sense? I realized that a feeling similar to experiencing the world like a tourist was what urged me to take photographs. Collecting moments that belonged to the places we visit, and to experience wherever that place may be in the most satisfying way was an intrinsic quality of being a tourist. And I think that, during my time on earth, it’s worth capturing each moment and each emotion and situation that belongs to this world through the eyes of a tourist seeing them for the first time. So that we still remember when it’s time to go back home.
